WOOD DESCRIPTION
Bark: gray, chapped lengthwise, peeling off in long, thin brownish strips; yellowish fibrous slice rapidly and profusely exuding a reddish liquid which hardens and turns blackish as it dries.
Sapwood: well differentiated, white.
Wood: bright red, darkening quickly in the light.
PHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Semi-hard; moderately nervous.
USES
Veneer cabinetry, carpentry, framework, parquet floors, hydraulic works, shipbuilding, canoe. Formerly used in dyeing
